Ways to work together / Ongoing Plan

Your plan, plus help putting it in place.

The same plan, plus help carrying it out and advice whenever something comes up. You don’t have to move your investments.

How it works

Three steps from first call to finished plan.

Once your documents are in, you’ll have your plan in about a month.

  1. 01

    Discover

    The first conversation

A Retirement Clarity Assessment: where you stand, what you want, and the decisions ahead. You’ll know if we’re a fit before you commit.

  2. 02

    Design

About two weeks after your documents arrive

I gather your pension estimates, statements, tax returns and benefits. Then we meet to work through your goals and tradeoffs.

  3. 03

    Deliver

About two weeks after the design meeting

A video walking through every recommendation, plus a written plan. Then I help you put it in place and keep it current as your life changes.

A good fit if…

  • You want a plan and someone to help you carry it out.
  • You’d like to keep your investments where they are.
  • You want a CPA to call when something comes up.

What’s included

  • Everything in the One-Time Plan
  • Help putting each recommendation in place
  • Two planning meetings a year
  • A quarterly review of your plan
  • Access to me by phone and email in between
  • Optional tax return preparation, for a separate fee

After your plan

Your year, quarter by quarter.

I review your plan every quarter and we meet twice a year. You can reach me in between whenever something comes up.

  1. Q1

    Tax season prep

I make sure you have what you need for tax season and check that nothing is missing before you file.

  2. Q2

    Retirement income review

I check your spending guardrails and your income so withdrawals stay on track.

  3. Q3

    Rotating focus

A different topic each year, chosen for whatever needs the most attention.

  4. Q4

    Year-end tax planning

Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting and other moves worth making before December 31.

Every plan covers

Eight areas, one plan.

Your pension, taxes and investments all affect each other. I plan them together so one decision doesn’t undo another.

  • Retirement income

One paycheck from your pension, deferred comp, savings and Social Security, with spending guardrails.

  • Pension decisions

Your DRS option, survivor benefit and start date, modeled before you elect. The choice is permanent.

  • Tax strategy

Roth conversions, withdrawal order, leave cash-outs and Medicare premiums, planned by a CPA.

  • Investing

Low-cost, tax-efficient portfolios built to pay you an income.

  • Risk management

The right coverage before you leave employer benefits, and a bridge for health coverage to Medicare.

  • Cash flow

What you spend now, what retirement will cost, and how to cover the years before Social Security.

  • Estate planning

Beneficiaries on your pension, deferred comp and accounts, and the documents your family will need, coordinated with your attorney.

  • Charitable giving

Giving the most tax-efficient way, from qualified charitable distributions to donor-advised funds.

What it costs

A flat fee, quoted up front.

I’m fee-only. You pay me directly, and I don’t earn commissions on anything I recommend.

From $6,500/yr

Billed quarterly, with no fee based on your assets

  • Quoted before any work begins. Fees start at the amount shown and can be higher for more complex situations.
  • No commissions. Nothing I recommend pays me anything extra.
  • Tax return preparation is optional, for a separate fee. Many clients like having one CPA handle their plan and their return.

This is a summary. Our Form ADV Part 2A has the complete fee schedule and terms.
